How to have a baby in Thailand

This is a personal account of how the Healthcare System in Thailand have scheduled my healthcare whilst TTC and being Pregnant, it is not an official schedule, just a guide which I hope will help to prepare you for having a baby here.

Knocked Up....Now What?

Week 4 +

Pregnancy Tests


Week 5 +

Choosing A Doctor
Vaginal Ultrasounds used in first few weeks
Be prepared for upto fortnightly appointments until your "end of first trimester" ultrasound
Appointments will include: blood pressure, weight, temperature, urine test and ultrasound


Week 11 +

"end of first trimester" ultrasound
Appointment will include: sizing and anomaly scans and as above
Be prepared for knowing the gender. Doctors may discuss it with you and blood test may reveal this information. Make it very clear if you do not want to know this information.

Week 12 +

Doulas and more Doulas
What not to expect

Be prepared for upto monthly appointments
Appointments will include: blood pressure, weight, temperature, urine test and ultrasound


Week 27 +

Gestational Diabetes testing
Vaccination for Whooping Cough (mother and baby)
CBC testing - Complete Blood Count - to test for anemia
HIV and Syphilis blood test
Be prepared for upto monthly appointments
Appointments will include: blood pressure, weight, temperature, urine test and ultrasound

Week 28 +
